Undead

The Forsaken were once the people of Lordaeron, raised by the Lich King to serve the Scourge. Free of his grasp now, they seek vengeance and trust almost no one.

Class choices

From the published client snapshot, build 1.60.1.69977. A class marked new is one Blizzard names as a new combination for Forever.

Client build 1.60.1.69977 matches Blizzard’s 22 September class table for this race.

Racial traits

What the Forsaken bring

Names and descriptions are read from the client build 1.60.1.69977. Blizzard says some traits were updated for Forever, and its own wording from 22 September is shown underneath where the names match. Neither has been checked in game.

  • Underwater BreathingClient and announcement

Underwater breath lasts 300% longer than normal.

Blizzard, 22 September: “Breathe 300% longer underwater.”

  • Will of the ForsakenClient and announcement

Blizzard, 22 September: “Removes Charm, Fear, and Sleep.”

Place and people

Who the Forsaken are

“Free of the Lich King’s grasp, the Forsaken seek to overthrow his rule.”

Blizzard, 22 September 2026

Blizzard’s Forever introduction describes the Forsaken as free of the Lich King and led by the banshee Sylvanas. They hunger for vengeance against the Scourge, humans have become their enemy, and they treat even the Horde as a tool for their own schemes.

Blizzard’s race page explains where they came from: the humans of Lordaeron killed in the Lich King’s campaign, some of whom broke free of his will after the Third War and named themselves the Forsaken.

In long-standing lore their home is the Undercity, a maze of catacombs, crypts and rivers of poisonous sludge whose fumes the living can barely stand. The Forsaken, Blizzard notes, like it that way.

New in Forever

The undead paladin

Blizzard’s 22 September article lists Undead Paladins among the new combinations. It may be the most surprising choice on the list, and the article does not explain how it fits the Forsaken story.

We have not verified a trainer, a first quest or an explanation in the world, so that part of the story is left unwritten here until there is a source.

Beginning

Where the story begins

Starting area in Forever

Blizzard has not named a Forever starting area for the Forsaken in the sources we follow, so we do not name one. The maps below show the homeland in lore, not a confirmed first step.

Home in lore

The Undercity, in Tirisfal Glades, is the Forsaken capital in long-standing lore.
