DiigiiMost search boxes hand you a list of pages and wish you luck. Ours tries to do one better: type the thing you are after, and the first result is usually the thing itself. A quest, an item, a raid, an innkeeper, a flight master.
Type the name, land on the thing
Start typing and results appear under the box as you go. Try Arcanite Reaper: the axe itself is right at the top, with its icon. Below it sit everything else that carries the name, such as the blacksmithing plans that teach it and the refined version. One click opens the item page, with its damage, its speed and the rest of its stats.
Two words beat one
Every word you type has to fit, so a second word narrows things down fast. hyjal raid puts Hyjal Summit first and the other launch raid, The Barrow Deeps, right behind it. paladin talents skips past every forum post that happens to mention paladins and opens the talent calculator for the class.
Search the way you talk in game
You do not need an NPC's name. The line under it works: innkeeper, druid trainer, stable master. Add a zone to find the one you need, so innkeeper teldrassil brings up Innkeeper Keldamyr in Dolanaar. Player shorthand works too: fp lists the flight masters, and bank the bankers.
Got an ID? Paste it
A number finds whatever has that ID, whether it is an NPC, a quest or an item. 3597 is both the Thick Cloth Belt and Mardant Strongoak, the druid trainer in Aldrassil, so both come up, each with its own label.
Every result says where it comes from
Forever is new, and a lot of what is known about it is still being pieced together, so we never hide where a result comes from. Forever client data with a build number means it was read from the game's own files of that build. Seen in Forever means players have reported it in the Forever beta. Classic reference means it comes from what is known of Classic and has not been confirmed for Forever yet. Posts from Blizzard's forums are marked as such, with the name of the person who wrote them.
On your phone
The bar at the top does not fit on a small screen, so on a phone use the search page. It is the same search with more room: type, tap Search, and the results are grouped by kind. It is also where Enter takes you on a computer when you want to see everything.
